It’s here! The first big event of the new ministry season. Sunday, September 13 marks the start of our annual week of prayer and fasting.
On Sunday morning our zone coordinators and ministry leaders will be ready to greet you after church. At each table set out in the foyer, you will find a chance to learn a little more about what the zone is about, and what kind of ministry needs still need to be filled.
On each table there will also be a small pack of prayer cards, with 6 cards—one for each zone at Hope Fellowship. You are encouraged to take one pack home with you and then bring it with you to the church when you come for a prayer time—please just take one per family.
Our prayer times begin on Monday at 7 pm. Each night from Monday to Friday we will meet for one hour to pray for a different zone—the volunteers in the zone, the ministry leaders, the coordinator and we will ask God to fill the needs of the zone. We will lay our plans and dreams before God and take some time to listen to what he is saying to us.
You don’t like praying out loud? There will be no pressure for you to do so. You can pray silently. You’re not sure you can pray for an hour? Try it out! As Pastor Peter says, it is a spiritual discipline to pray for that long, but you might be surprised how quickly the hour passes. You don’t think you’ll fit in? You will! Everyone is welcome.
Whether you are at the church each day or not, you are encouraged to write your personal prayer for the zone on the back of each card and post them somewhere you will see them regularly and be reminded to pray.
On Sunday, September 20 we will celebrate our Rev Up Sunday. That’s when you come with your prayer cards and talk to each zone coordinator/ministry leader at the six tables. When you connect with the leader at the table, they will stamp your prayer card. When you’ve received six stamps, you will be eligible to receive a very special prize. But you’ll have to be here on Sept. 20 to find out what prize you will receive. The cards can then be used for the year to remind you of the prayer requests for each zone.
