Hopeful Story, November 13, 2016

It was more than 30 years ago that Paul and I moved to Oshawa…a city where we knew no one. Moving to a strange city was very overwhelming, not to mention the stress of moving all our belongings. Maybe some of you can relate to a similar experience.
I sit here and think of the family from Syria and the move they have completed. Our move was one of our own choosing – theirs has been due to the severe oppression of the war taking place in the country in which they lived - something that is not of their choosing. I cannot imagine the sorrow of leaving all that is familiar and normal and to leave some of their family and friends. We are very thankful that they have some family here to welcome them to Canada and help show them what a great country we live in!
Two weeks ago Jordan made an announcement regarding the upcoming Vision offering and how Hope Fellowship is a giving church. It was evident when we had the collection to support the newcomers. This has also been evident with the overwhelming support through the Hope Without Borders shower donations. Once again Hope Fellowship comes through with shining colours!!! As God has blessed us so have all of you blessed these families. You have given them linens, bedding & pillows, cleaning supplies, kitchen items and personal hygiene products to help them start their new life here in Canada… We cannot thank you enough for your endless generosity.
If you wanted to give but haven’t had a chance there are a few items left! Go to: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090c4ea9ab2da4fb6-shower
I cannot help but think of the parable of the sheep and the goats… Matthew 25:35-40 “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
