Hopeful Story, October 25, 2015

Last Thursday and Friday, more than twenty leaders from Hope Fellowship joined hundreds of other church leaders at Liberty Pentecostal Church in Bowmanville. They worshipped together and watched video presentations of the talks that were first given in August as part of the annual Global Leadership Summit held in Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago
.
The worldwide attendance numbers are staggering. In addition to the 7,000 leaders who listened on-site on August 11 and 12, it is estimated that 250,000 other church leaders in over one hundred countries took in the telecast conference. Those presentations are broadcasted again on October, and the Bowmanville location was one of the 875 Premier Host Sites that gave many others the opportunity to benefit from all that was taught last summer.
It’s fair to say that one of the main initiators for Hope Fellowship’s involvement is Brian, the current chair of the Vision Leadership Board. If he had his way, every volunteer and potential volunteer at Hope would attend this exciting two day video conference. In his words, "Twenty years ago, I was gifted by a member of my church who saw certain gifts and abilities in me and said something like,… "I think you would find great value in attending this event"… and so my wife and I went. That experience was a defining moment for us, and set our lives on a course that we have grown to cherish and love, as we seek to utilize our gifts and talents in all areas of our lives while being witness to God’s redemptive plan and the hope that it brings."
I’m glad that leadership development is a high value at Hope Fellowship. Because when twenty leaders from our church attend a world class leadership development event together and get to listen to people like Bill Hybels, Jim Collins (author of Good To Great), and various noteworthy pastors, professors and CEO’s, including the presidents of Walt Disney Animation Studios and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Group, they can’t help but come back re-energized, excited and unified about making a significant difference for Christ in the world.
Today, as I reflect on our church’s commitment to leadership development, I look forward to seeing where this year’s talks will take us.
