Hopeful Story, February 15, 2015

The email from Sharon came in on Feb. 4. “Please pray. Our 2 year old grandson, Levi, had an allergic reaction which became serious staph infection which became scalded skin syndrome. Pray this cycle stops and heads back in the other direction towards healing. Lots of pain, morphine, broad-spectrum antibiotics and specialists involved.” Some of the people included in the email sent words of comfort and prayers, others used words written by more eloquent speakers. But many prayers were prayed. Over the course of the next couple of days the updates continued – the sores, boils and burns continued to spread, the pain was intense and things looked dark. One email ended with “My mind has been numb...my prayer tears.”
Then the request for prayer again – there was a slim chance that Levi could be admitted to Sick Kids hospital. At that point it was time to bring in the big guns – we can all pray, for sure, but some of us are strong intercessors, so the prayer request went to our prayer team, who took up the call to pray for this young child and his family. Initially the family was told that Sick Kids would not admit Levi, but then they agreed to assess him. “Yay God! Yay community of praying people!” was the ending to this email.
And then: “The staph test...the basis of all treatment to date...came back negative! Mystery abounds!! Levi is running around the whole hospital SO happy to see People! People! And saying ‘Hi, guys! Hi, doctor! Good job, doctor!’ to everyone he sees.”
This past weekend all of Levi’s burns were cleaned and he was sent home on Monday! Though the doctors don’t know what caused all the issues for this 2 year old boy, they assured his parents that the burns would heal without scarring.
The last email read: “So amazing. I can't help but notice how quickly things changed once 2 dozen people (that I know of) started praying about the 5% chance of getting him into Sick Kids... For those who have eyes to see...Thanks for being there in prayer...”
