Hopeful Story, August 24, 2014

The sabbatical/vacation for Pastor Peter and Marja included 18 Sundays, 10 guest preachers (including our own Bernice Baker, Mike Broersma, Gary VanderMeulen and Lisa Guillaume Koene), and 2 video sermons (the second one will happen next week) for Hope Fellowship. Pastor Peter & Marja chose the summer because church life is quieter in the summer, and it would mean the least disruption for Hope Fellowship. So was it quiet while they were gone?
Well, let’s take a look at what happened around here while Pastor Peter and Marja were away:
We were blessed with 4 new babies—Sidney, Garret, Aiden and Alexander - plus new grandchildren for Gerrie & Lu, Wayne & Deb and Janice.
We mourned with four people who lost parents and grandparents— Henry & Ann, Al & Sylvia, Matthew & Leah, and Rob & Patricia.
We prayed for Valerie, who underwent a second knee surgery, for Cliff, who underwent bypass surgery, for Brenda, who had knee surgery and for Simon, who is still undergoing tests.
We celebrated with Josh & Laura and Daniel & Adrianna as they got married.
We said good bye to Todd & Pauline, who moved to Belleville to take up positions at Quinte Christian High School.
We celebrated with Jeff & Lana when Jeff had his four year check up and was declared cancer free.
  We celebrated Len & Marie’s 50th anniversary and John & Jody’s 25th anniversary.
We blessed Christina as she left for a one year mission trip, as well as Katherine, Elyse, Danielle, Christian, Gabby, Megan, Alice and John, who also had mission trip experiences this summer. We are praying for Bill & Helen, who are doing Disaster Relief work in High River, Alberta right now.
Quiet? Well, not really. And now we are heading into a new ministry season, and Pastor Peter and Marja will be back to share it with us! We will welcome them back on Sunday, Sept. 7.
