Hopeful Story, February 23, 2014

On Friday night and all day Saturday, Hope Fellowship’s office bearers and zone co-ordinators met at the Kingfisher Bay Retreat Centre to continue their discussions about our church’s mission and vision. The words Believe, Belong and Bless were heard often and good questions were asked about implementing the courageous proposals in these three categories that came out of last year’s retreat.
Looking back, I realized that the Holy Spirit has been at work, prompting various people to initiate new ministries. At least three different men have approached me about expanding the men’s ministry that currently consists of two small groups. Two women have shared their vision for a women’s ministry (good timing, considering the women’s conference that is being planned for Saturday, April 12). A young adults ministry called “Ignite” has been started. The changes to the girls and boys ministries have been well received.
The Administration Board discussed these developments at a recent meeting and marvelled at the way people have been responding to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. If someone were to ask, “Whatever happened to last year’s Believe, Belong and Bless proposals?” my first response would be to highlight the excitement that lives in those who are championing these various ministries.
We may be thankful for the Courageous Proposals Implementation Team that has met faithfully, working with the job description that was given to them by the Admin Board. In the meantime, we may also be encouraged by the visionary ideas that are percolating in response to the prayers and conversations that were started last year. Today I’m excited to see what will happen when the Spirit-led ideas that I’ve heard are welcomed and actively supported by everyone.
