Hopeful Story, August 11, 2013

Last Sunday the cyclists were in Grand Rapids, MI, where the American Christian Reformed Church of America headquarters are located. There was a grand celebration at Calvin College. The cyclists all cycled to the service together and then paraded their bikes around the auditorium before settling into a celebration service. Are you sorry you missed it? Well….
The cyclists have arrived in Canada!! On Aug. 7 the cyclists and their gear rode a ferry across the St. Clair River and arrived in Sarnia, where they were greeted with a grand Canadian welcome—lots of red and white, including a bicycle covered with red and white flowers and cupcakes with Canadian flags in them.
However, this week Jef had the sad task of letting Alice know that her mother’s husband of 13 years passed away. Alice left the tour for the day yesterday to be with her family as they said good bye to Pete Van Elburg. She plans to rejoin the group today for the celebration service planned at Redeemer University College. And while Grand Rapids is too far to drive for a church service, Ancaster is not!! The service begins at 3:00 this afternoon. Redeemer is located at 777 Garner Road East, Ancaster, ON L9K 1J4 and you are all invited to the service.
If Ancaster is too far for you to travel, then plan to be at Hope Fellowship early Tuesday morning as we gather to greet and encourage all the cyclists on their way through, and give hugs to Alice, Joan, Stan and Bernice. Other cyclists from this area include Ingrid, who will cycle from Montreal to New York, Jasper (principal of Immanuel Christian School) who will do part of the ride on his unicycle, and George who regularly runs with our running group. We expect the majority of the cyclists to go through between 7 am and 9 am. If you are able, please come and cheer them on! There will be coffee for all—and maybe even a turn at the Candy Bar if the cyclists don’t take everything.
If you have questions, please talk to Evelyn or to Lilian. See you on Tuesday!
