Hopeful Story, June 25, 2017

In recent months the people of Hope have once again proven themselves to be self-less givers and champions to the needy. In March you came to the HSM pancake breakfast and helped raise over $900 for our summer serve trip to Washington DC
.
Then when we advertised Youth For Hire to raise money for the Pregnancy Resource Centre in the Dominican, no less than 16 people signed up enabling us to raise close to another $1,000. We raked leaves, cleaned gardens, washed walls, vacuumed! Lots of good stuff. thanks for your support by putting us to work! We're pretty sure that we will do this again next year.
Then James raised the idea of having a ball tournament. So, to make a long story short, some couples took this bull by the horns organized it for June 10. 9 nine teams, approx 120 players, lots of spectators and a couple of hundred burgers later, we raised over $2,500 - also for the PRC. God blessed us with b-e-a-u-tiful weather that day. And a shout out to Kevin and Melissa who donated all the drinks for the BBQ that day!
While some team captain named Nigel something-or-other put together a winning team, the people who really won live in another country. Single women and their children in the Dominican have a centre that they can stay in a while longer. We need to keep going to keep that place open!! And you proved that you are winners too. Thanks and blessings to all of you who gave in one way or another. this spring has been a win-win situation for everyone involved.
