Hopeful Story, February 26, 2017

The Hope Fellowship Life Groups are studying “Daring Faith” by Rick Warren. As he writes, “You get to choose how much God blesses your life and uses you in his plan for the world. Daring faith is the key to fulfilling God’s will”. The session titles say it all: Building a life of faith; Expecting the best; Stretching your imagination; Taking the initiative; Facing your fears; and Believing while you’re waiting.
Today is World Renew – Disaster Response Services (DRS) Sunday and this could be one way to step out and volunteer in God’s Kingdom. You will be amazed how you will be blessed by helping others and especially when you get to hear the client’s story of how their faith carried them. World Renew – DRS has several ways you can volunteer, here are two of them:
1 – Organize A Work Group (CHURCH) TEAM: Usually a 1 week assignment and generally set up for young people or college age groups. You will be assigned to an area of your choice and given contact with the Local Long Term Recovery group. They will provide a place to stay; ie, a church or a gym and give you your work schedule. You will be responsible for your own food and transportation.
2 - A DRS MANAGED SITE: Usually a 3 week assignment but 1 or 2 weeks can be arranged. This team will be put together by the DRS office from their volunteer list of skilled workers and helpers needed for this particular site. DRS will have negotiated a place to base this long term commitment and completely set up this site with RV hook ups, bedrooms, full kitchen, etc ready for the workers to arrive. All meals are provided for the work week (weekends are your own). Each team will have an “On Site Manager” and a “Construction Manager” to take care of the team’s needs and work assignments, which come through the Local Long Term Recovery group.
What is God asking of you? Is he asking you to step out in FAITH and help those affected by natural disasters? Physically helping or praying for this ministry or financial support?
Matthew 9:29 says it all, “According to your faith will it be done to you.”
