Hopeful Story, September 11, 2016

It was a quiet Tuesday morning in the office, I was just preparing for an upcoming meeting when the phone rang. The lady on the other end asked me where food bank food went. I was a little confused by the question and asked for clarification. She explained that she had some food that she wanted to donate to the food bank and I told her she was welcome to come by at any time. Twenty minutes later a car pulled up and a lovely woman started pulling boxes out of her car. I went out to help her, as the boxes were obviously heavy and she explained to me that while she was at camp with her family, her eight year old grandson, Brian, decided to collect food for a local food bank. Two boxes of canned goods later, she was looking for a place to deliver them.
I asked why she was bringing them to Hope Fellowship and she said that she just recently started attending here, at the invitation of her friend, Marg. She is also a Marg. She had a table at the women’s conference in the spring where she sold her paintings and a percentage of her sales went to help our food bank. It was a wonderful connection and we chatted for a few minutes before she went on her way.
So thank you to Brian, who had the heart and the time during his family vacation to ask people to help out those who need some extra assistance with groceries. Thank you to Marg for taking the time to deliver the groceries here. Thank you, God, for giving an eight year old the desire to help others. It was the best way I could imagine to start a new ministry year.
