Hopeful Story, April 27, 2014

I have thoroughly enjoyed researching and preaching the Money Matters, Safe Sex and Famous Last Words series. I hope that God has used these messages to challenge and encourage you.
On this Stand Up Sunday we will hear some powerful messages from people who are professing their faith for the first time and being baptized, or re-affirming their faith as members of Hope Fellowship Church. Encourage them with your prayers as they speak
.
Following today’s special services, Marja and I will head to Kitchener where we will park our car during our sabbatical. We will fly to B.C. tonight and visit my dad for three days before flying to Hawaii on May 1. In Honolulu we will be staying in a small apartment on the fifteenth floor of a building that is located only two blocks from Waikiki Beach and a short distance away from Pearl Harbour. During our time there we will take a closer look at the ministries and programs of New Hope Church (www.enewhope.org). This large, diverse and growing church is led by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro who founded this church thirty years ago. He has written a number of books and spoken at Willow Creek Summits. We’re ready to just sit and listen and have our tanks filled by him and other preachers. We will also enjoy lots of rest and recreation in a place that has long been on our bucket list to visit.
At Hope Fellowship we have a very interesting line up of preachers bringing God’s word in the next four months. They include Bernice Baker, Kevin Makins, Henry Wildeboer, Darren Hoogendoorn, Gary Vander Meulen, Brian Walsh, Elizabeth Guillaume-Koene and Daryl Stogryn. There is also the possibility of one or two video sermons by people like Bruxy Cavey or Bill Hybels.
Each week, I hope to send you a hopeful story from the island of Oahu. Please accept my sincere thanks for the gift of this sabbatical.
- Pastor Peter
