Hopeful Story, September 15, 2013

Today is Rev Up Sunday, the day when you will be given the opportunity to sign up wherever you feel led or gifted by the Lord to do so. Personally, I am looking for a few more people to sign up for the Leadership Development small group that Marja and I will be hosting in our home. These twelve Tuesday night sessions spread over the next seven months will deal with seven core leadership values and five obstacles that can “undo” you. I’m also looking for people interested in taking the next New Members Class which starts on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Please come and find me in the foyer at one of the tables to talk about these two opportunities.
The rest of the staff will also be at tables, ready to tell you about other spiritual growth opportunities in each of their zones. Which zones? The Administration Zone is looking for people comfortable in the area of finance. In fact, we are looking for 3-4 people who are willing to count the money that is collected by the deacons each week now that Pam and Diane have declared their intention to retire after 14 and 12 years of faithful service (Thanks so much, Pam and Diane!). In the Worship Zone, we’re looking for musicians, actors and worship committee members. The Community Life Zone is all about connecting people in small groups, so go to that table if you want to join one. Go to the Service and Outreach table if you want to get involved in Service Saturdays, Helping Hands or Disaster Response Services (DRS). The Children’s Zone needs volunteers in the nursery and in all of the Children’s ministries and the Youth Zone is definitely looking for two more leaders for High School Ministries (HSM). By the way, you can register your kids for GEMS and Cadets (Grades 3-8) on Tuesday night, Sept. 17, at the church. HSM kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
My advice to you for both physical health and spiritual well-being is the same: stay active! So get involved as a volunteer or participant.
See you at the tables in the foyer after church.
