Hopeful Story, July 29, 2012

My ears perked up when I heard that one of our young people had requested a ticket from her parents to the upcoming Boots and Hearts Country Music Festival at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport, Aug. 10-12) as her birthday present. They perked up even more when I heard that Crystal, her boyfriend Brian and Nicole are on the festival’s Street Team, responsible for talking to the public about the exciting events going on during the concert weekend and handing out free stuff.
It turns out that Boots and Hearts, which is offering an amazing lineup of country music’s biggest stars—Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Alabama, Kid Rock, Lionel Richie, Paul Brandt, Michelle Wright, and many more—is actually being organized by Republic-Live, a promotion company that has put together some of North America’s largest Christian festivals, like Creation Fest.
“It’s all about what happens on Sunday morning...but it starts on Friday!” Shannon McNevan, Republic-Live’s Executive Director explained by e-mail. “Thousands of people who don’t normally have any connection to a local church will get the opportunity to participate in a Sunday Morning Worship Service featuring Terry Clark, Michelle Wright, Canaan Smith, High Valley and others leading worship. Mike Fisher (NHL Nashville Predators player) will also share his testimony. This is an amazing opportunity for many people to hear about Jesus from people they really admire.”
World Vision, Youth for Christ/Youth Unlimited, and Youth with a Mission will partner with Republic-Live on Sunday to serve a free breakfast to the festival attendees, followed by a worship event. But they still need many more volunteers for Sunday morning from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. “Volunteering Sunday morning will entitle you to access the remainder of the day, including Sunday Night’s concert by headliners Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie,” Darryl Parsons, YFC Volunteer Co-ordinator, promised. “More importantly, you will be part of helping up to 20,000 people experience a fresh encounter with Jesus.”
For more information, you can also visit the YFC/YU Boots and Hearts page or e-mail shannon@republic-live.com. You can also talk to Crystal, who is amazed at what God is doing through this event.
