The cyclists have finished! Those, who like our own cyclists Joan, Alice and Stan, rode the entire route have now cycled from Los Angeles to New York—a total of 6,178.272 km. They have had many adventures along the way. This is really a journey that began more than a year ago when they decided to commit to a summer of cycling. Not just for the adventure, but to raise funds for and awareness of poverty, which will be used all over the world. You can see exactly where the funds will go here. We look forward to hearing many stories in the months to come!
This also ends our series of hopeful stories about the Sea to Sea Cycle to End Poverty. We will finish with a story posted by one of the cyclists about an unexpected act of generosity experienced by one of the cyclists. This is taken from Danika Blower’s blog where she writes about her her struggles with a broken bicycle.

“...the plan was that I would get a ride into Iowa City to hopefully get my bike fixed…there were delays and at noon I’m sitting there thinking does it even make sense to go at this point? We’re 2+ hours there and back…so I decided not to go..I would check out a trek shop in town…tomorrow we would be in Iowa City any way…if I had to I would deal with it then…so Harry and Harold and I went to the bike shop I tried a couple that didn’t really fit…then I tried one that I liked and took it for a spin…when I got back to the shop the sales girl was on the phone…she walked up to me and said there is a local person who was having lunch in town and heard from some sea to sea people what happened to you and he wants to buy you a bike. I stood there and asked if she was joking…no she wasn’t…I walked out of there with a brand new trek bike. I. Can’t. Believe. It. How amazing is that…times like this I ask myself why? Why does God love me that much? But he does… And all I can do is say thank you and just be grateful. I feel so overwhelmed tonight…in a good way of course!”
